There is no Open Firmware on Intel Macs. They use EFI firmware. Why do you need to access it? You can still access single-user mode the same way as on PPC Macs.

It is possible to work with the EFI firmware but you will need rEFIt - VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

yes but here's my problem... i need to change my user name from standard to administrator but the problem is i have firmware and it wont let me use the disk.....so i how can i disable firmware to change that and i need to do it so i can install my printer. I read an artical that said: Disabling Password Protection

1) Boot into the Open Firmware. (Command + Option + O + F)

2) Type "setenv security-mode none" and press return.

3) Enter in the password at the password request prompt and press return.

4) Then type "reset-all" to restart the computer.

Force Removing Password Protection

1) Add or remove DIMMs to change the total amount of RAM in the computer.

2) Then, the PRAM must be reset 3 times. (Command + Option + P + R).
But i can't figure it out....can you please help me i need to install my printer soon to print things off for college.
