I recently noticed that my command key doesn't work anymore. I have tried in multiple applications (firefox, photoshop, safari, etc.) and nothing happens when I push it. Not being able to use keyboard shortcuts is making getting anything done a pain. I called Apple and they sent me a new keyboard. Unfortunately, that didn't do the trick. What can I try now? Thanks.

Secondly, well if it's happened on two keyboards it's obviously not the keyboards. Have you checked OS X's settings?
These Instructions are if you are new to Mac...
1) Click on the Apple Menu in the top-left hand corner.
2) Select "System Preferences".
3) Select "Keyboard and Mouse" from the Hardware category.
4) Click on "Keyboard Shortcuts" in the window's toolbar.
Make sure all those are checked off and active.
If they are...
5) Click on "Keyboard" in the window's toolbar.
6) Select "Modifier Keys..." from the bottom-left hand side of the window.
Make sure all the keys are set to their appropriate commands.
If they aren't, click on "Restore Defaults"
If that doesn't work, manually change them
If that doesn't work then try changing the USB port your Keyboard is plugged into (iSay this last because hopefully you have tried this).
If that still doesn't work, reply and iWill see if there are another settings that may be changing your keyboard's functionality!

You're saying that 2 keyboards have dead command keys? And there are two on each keyboard! That's an amazing coincidence . . .
You know of course, that the command key is almost always used in conjunction with other keys; it usually doesn't do anything by itself. i.e., command/Q to quit an application, command/P to print, etc.
Thank you very much for your help. It had been changed some how in the menu. The command button had been changed to no action and I just switched it back. I wish the people at the Support Center could have told me that. But, I'm glad it works.
Yes I do know that you have to use it with other keys. (Which is why it is so annoying that now I can't do that). And, yes neither one of them works even with a brand new keyboard Apple sent to me.
