Major Mail Problems PLEASE PLEASE HELP

ok where to start...

we were hosting our website, mail, filemaker etc basically everything from ouir G5 Server (OS X 10.4).

The domains were registered with uk2.net and i wanted to have the webhosting with domainsrush.net.
the email for our new domain was somehow being routed or diverted through the companies old domain name.

when i changed the dns servers for the new domains to domainsrush dns, the email went off.

I have been told left right and centre that mx and dns records need to be setup for the new domain.

so i am currently at here...

newly installed server from scratch.

mail is running but nothings working.

the domain if it helps is www.timeact.co.uk

what do i do? i have to get the email back up and running by tonight.

please please can someone kindly tell me what i have to do? (except for cry)

In the mail server under os x..

I have checked enable SMTP and allow incomming mail.
Domain name: timeact.co.uk
Host name: mail.timeact.co.uk

Perfect.

then i create a mx record and set the value to the host name of my mail server (mail.timeact.co.uk)

Yes and you also need an A record to resolve mail.timeact.co.uk to your IP. Which seems as you have done it already.

No I hadn't but I have now created an A record

Web Site (A & CNAME) Records

Prefix TTL Type Value Action
600 A 81.137.215.123 Edit Delete

(81.137.215.123 is the external I.P address of the router which is mapped through to the mail server.)

ok that seems ok now.

but now I have to work out how to setup mailboxes seing as they were originaly just diverts.

I just sent an email to steve.howe@timeact.co.uk and the email server log says:

Nov 9 16:26:00 server postfix/pipe[2166]: E11E228C56: to=<steve.howe@timeact.co.uk>, relay=cyrus, delay=0, status=bounced (data format error. Command output: steve.howe: Mailbox does not exist )

hehe one problem after another.

Check that the IP number/Range of your client machines is allowed to use your server. Of your internal IPs, currently only 192.168.0.100 is authorized. If you want to allow all your subnet, change 192.168.0.100/32 to 192.168.0.0/24

Also make sure you check all necessary authentication methods. Currently you only accept "login". Depending on the mail client you use you should also check plain and cram-md5.

I just noticed in the log this...

"Nov 9 17:53:55 server postfix/smtpd[3513]: fatal: net/mask pattern 192.168.0.100/24 has a non-null host portion; specify 192.168.0.0/24 if this is really what you want
Nov 9 17:53:56 server postfix/master[3188]: warning: process /usr/libexec/postfix/smtpd pid 3513 exit status 1
Nov 9 17:53:56 server postfix/master[3188]: warning: /usr/libexec/postfix/smtpd: bad command startup -- throttling"

not sure if that means anything
