TrekStor DataStation (maxi m.u) will not connect.

Hello! I recently purchased a TrekStor DataStation and connected it as per the (relatively simple) instructions, but it will not mount. It simply doesn't show up on the desktop at all, nor anywhere else - even though the box proudly declares the hard drive to be "Mac compatible." The manual provided with the product can't even fathom of this problem occurring, so here I am. Anyone have any advice? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

iBook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Could be, the product is actually just defective, right out of the box.

An item's compatibility may be limited, too; in that maybe you should
try running your OSX's Disk Utility on that external drive, and if need
be, reformat it to a more compatible Mac extended format. I'd never
take a new 'compatible' hard disk drive at face value, as being so...!

Disk Utility can do several things on a drive; low-level reformat where
it writes zeros over the contents, repair a drive, repair permissions
when an OSX volume is on the drive (as in a backup clone) & etc.

If you can get it erased, reformatted, etc, and it still won't work, check
with the supplier or retailer on getting a replacement under warranty.

Best of luck!

PS: be sure to dismount the drive correctly before unplugging it! You can
unmount it by using Eject under File in menubar, or drag disk icon to trash.

Not much help from the company...

+Dear customer,+

+thank you for requesting information from your TrekStor Service Team.+

+First of all you should check the version of your operating system. Your device is only detected by the MAC OS version 10.4 or above. Under circumstance an update on MAC OS X panther or tiger is recommended. You also should connect your device directly to your computer. An USB extension or an USB-HUB can provide a correct detection in your system.+

+If this is not solving the problem please restart your computer with connected device. Normally your operating system is choosing the right driver afterwards.+

+You also should check if your device is inoperable. You can connect your device on another system. Perhaps you should try another operating system like windows xp. If your device is not detected by another computer we can not exclude your device being defectiv. Please contact your stockist to complain.+

+We know that you as customer have the choice and we thank you for having decided for TrekStor.+

I got the exact some one from FutureShop (320GB) and was having the same problem.
It just wouldn't recognize the hard drive...
however, I left it plugged into my ibook..then restarted my ibook while leaving the power on the hard drive on.

While it was restarting the blue light on the HD starting blinking and the lovely icon was sitting on my desktop when my screen popped up.

Worked for m!

I have the 500g TrekStor. Everything works great; the two USB hubs and the card reader. Awesome. The only problem is, the drive is not "readable by the computer." It will not let me run Disk Utility on it. I don't think it's the unit, i think it's stupid Leopard (I have the latest) not being compitable with everything. Or, maybe i'm just annoyed that I can't call for technical support, the website is useless, and I cannot for the love of me find the driver for it.

I want to know if there is anything I can do to fix this. If not, im returning it, and just getting a mybook and a card reader and a 4 port usb hub for the same price.
