Sorry I can't answer your question b/c I don't understand what you mean by "doesnt act like it has the most recent drivers". *But I did notice that when I'm using Windows in Bootcamp, the Geforce 8600 GT 256MB suddenly increases to 512MB.* Anyone else experience this??? Does this mean that the new 8600 GT card in the new MBP aer actually the same one from last year's model?

So anyways I was curious since the old and the new 8600 GT cards are actually the same, is there a way to just do a driver upgrade on the old 256MB card to make it increase to 512MB?

Well, why don't you try one out and see how it works for you?
Use drivercleaner between installations to clean up registry etc.
Fwiw I'm using 169.28 under XP - works great for me.
Also, as regards your signature and windows freezing - maybe check here:

Oh, and as regards the 256 to 512 memory issue - its because nVidia uses so called "Turbo Cache" - a technique that utilises system memory to supplement onboard memory. I'd actually like to be able to turn this feature off, but the only solution I've found so far, involving editing the registry, doesn't appear to work.

One can always download the latest nVidia driver from nVidia and install it via the HAVE DISK method (not the nVidia setup program). Make sure you removed the nVidia driver before new driver installation.

This is better than using INF hacked drivers as Windows will recoginze the driver as WHQL using the HAVE DISK installation. If you install the driver via modified INF file, the driver will not be installed as WHQL compliant.
