Connect iPhone to an External Display?

I have to teach a class soon on using the iPhone, and I would really like to show what's on my iPhone screen so everyone can see as I demonstrate its use.

Is there any way to connect to an external monitor? Or at least project what's on the display onto a projection screen? Did Steve do this when he introduced it a year ago?

I would think I want the overhead display withOUT the transparency light under the platform. I remember there being overhead displays that worked reflectively with lights from above, like for use with books and non-transparent material. I could then just turn the upper lights off and use the light source from the iPhone.
