Cannot print to Canon Selphy Es1

My MOm bought a Canon Selphy ES1 printer this Christmas. A nice little printer I was able to get decent photos from using Aperture, albeit with a bit of adjustment for the darkness (I needed to lighten it quite a bit in Aperture)

However. If I try to print in the same way from iPhoto I get a "Cartridge has been changed. Insert New Cartridge" As well, cropped images change their crop and size when you try to print them. Instead of the insepidly cute little girl you get her shoulder, blown up, and no way of making it smaller.

I am not sure if this is a printer driver problem or an iphoto Apple problem. A photo which is cropped in iphoto, drug to the desktop and opened in Preview and printed behaves properly. A photo saved from the print preview does not have the proper cropping.

Has anyone else encountered these problems with this printer? (For now my Mom is going to be using the drag-to-desktop route, but it's a kludge)

For the record, the little Canon Selphy 720 I have works fine...

Been there, done that. Sadly as there is usually no real feedback from Apple about these things, it's a matter of "wait and see if it gets in the next update".

maybe on Monday or thereabouts, but I doubt it. I had a response from Canon within two days. Apple, well, I rarely get responses from that end.

For now I have her set up with a 4x6 template in Pages to drag photos onto and it works. They even retain the cropping in iphoto. At least this way she can do multiple photos by adding pages, but it's a clunky workaround.
