iPod Touch 16gb won't turn off or go into standby?

I have recently purchased a iPod Touch 16gb and updated the firmware to 1.1.2, uploaded songs and video's and now it won't turn off.

I have reset the ipod to factory settings from the general menu, and also done a restore from itunes.

When I hold down the button on the top of the iPod it does nothing, is there anything I am doing wrong?

Button on the top puts the iPod into the sleep mode, switching off the screen. It also brings it back to live, if you push it again. There is no need to turn the iPod off. If you really need this, hold button on the top for about 5-10 seconds. You should see the "Turn Off" option.

Hi Romanko,

Many thanks but even if I hold the button in for 30 seconds I do not get the option to slide the red bar to turn it off.

Could this be a faulty iPod?

I don't think so. If top button works (turns screen on/off), that might be the problem with the firmware. Have you tried to "Restore" it?

The top button does not seem to work and I have just done a full restore using iTunes 7.5 and it still wont go into standby etc.

Thinking I might take it back and get a new one!!

Oops, that's weird! This case you are right. You'd better take it back for replacement.
