iTunes Scripting Interface

Every time I close iTunes it pauses then brings up a notice that another program is using the iTunes Scripting interface. The program will close in * seconds. There is a quit or don't quit button.

I've searched iTunes support and can't find anything about this. Can anyone tell me what this is and why all of a sudden I'm getting this notice? How can I correct this so that it doesn't happen? Is it okay to just quit?

Nothing that I am aware of. I started using iTunes back in September 2007 when I purchased an iPhone. I haven't loaded any new software at all since then.

It started about 3 days ago out of nowhere when I went to shut down iTunes and power off. I have done a lot of renaming of songs, albums and adding album covers. I don't want to lose anything and am afraid to hit the quit button if it is saving something I've changed.

I ran into this same issue and I figured out what was causing the message to appear for me.

I have a Logitech mx5000 wireless mouse and keyboard. The software that comes with this setup was causing my issue. As soon as I closed the program that starts up with windows it didn't give me that message. It could be a similar thing happening to you. If your keyboard has multimedia buttons on it the software that comes with it may be causing this to happen.

I hope my .02 helps you out here.

Hi lippido,
I too was receiving the error. For me it was my plugin to Pidgin (IM cleint) that was causing this. The plugin displays the iTunes song I am playing as my idle message.
Once I disabled the plugin iTunes closed with no message.

So foresure some app or service is tied to your iTunes. I would suggest to start closing down, one by one, any open apps or unneeded system services to see which is binding to iTunes.

Hope this helps.

I get this "Scripting Interface" error and I am NOT running the Logitech software mentioned. I'm running iTunes on a Dell XPS M1730 Laptop w/ Vista. I've never loaded any software from Logitech on here, but the Dell Support Center and PC-cillin antivirus is running. ANyone out there seen this error without Logitech in the mix?

I'm OK with having to wait for the app to close - I just wonder if I'm risking any long-term issues since SOMETHING is referencing that iTunes script?
