fax confirmation

fax confirmation

When faxing from my computers (macbook OS 10.4 or imac OS 10.3) how can I tell if a fax was sent successfully? I've duplicated faxes because there's nothing to say fax completed or confirmed.

Try browsing to this site (it's on your own Mac):

http://127.0.0.1:631/printers/Internal_Modem

You can look at completed jobs and that will give you some evidence that your fax was sent. It's not the greatest answer, but it's the only thing I know of. The built-in faxing software is not that great if you ask me.

Wow! I've been having this same issue. No "sent Faxes" folder. But it shows up on this web address you gave so this answers the issue of whether or not I have sent a certain fax. How can it be on the internet? You stated it's on the computer, though. But from the way it looks it's on the internet somehow.

Glad it helped. It is really on your computer, not on the internet. I'm not totally sure of the details, however. Too bad there's not a little bit more user-friendliness built into Mac OS X faxing so we wouldn't have to go through all these cotortions just to see if a fax was sent. Now just don't ask me to tell you how to locate a copy of that sent fax because I can't do it!

In OS 10.4, launch /Applications/Utilities/Printer Setup Utility

then in menubar, go to View | Show Fax List

single click on the modem, then in the menubar go to Printers | Show Jobs or just do an ⌘o

new window opens for modem, click on Completed tab.
