Quicktime for Linux?

This is going to be a very, very silly question. Is it possible to install Quicktime for Linux to work under Firefox, or is that not what it is meant to do? Windows and MacOS only?

Other OS

Welcome to the discussions, furriner.

I just did some searching for QuickTime and Linux and didn't come up with anything much. I did find that MPlayer is supposed to be able to play QuickTime .mov files. One good thing about Apple going the MPEG-4 route is that you don't need QuickTime in order to play back a movie encoded as MPEG-4. Any MPEG-4 player should be able to handle it.

A dedicated QuickTime would still be needed to playback anything with QuickTime only features like sprites and such.
