iTunes and windows 2000

I am having trouble getting iTunes on windows 2000 to recognise my ipod touch. when i connect it I am automatically getting the windows "new hardware wizard" but i do not have a driver! can anyone help?

The newest versions of iTunes are not compatible with Windows 2000.

I have downloaded the version of itunes that IS compatible with windows 2000 but this will still not recognise ipod touch?

You need to have at least version 7.4. But that really is besides the point because the [iPod Touch requires Windows XP or Vista|http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/specs.html]
