WGM Sharing greyed out

WGM Sharing greyed out

Hi Anyone have any suggestions how to get sharing setup live in WGM. Recent update 10.3.9 server to 10.4.2 server- (see process in previous post). Presently I am unable to go to sharing and check prefs. Neaither the old admin or new diradmin password allows me access to it.

I had that problem today because my DNS got messed up. I restarted my computer and got the sharing back. It sounds like your DNS is not correct.

Does your hostname in terminal return you Fully Qualified Domain Name? Can you do a revers lookup with Network Utility?

I'm not sure if it does it with the upgrade, but if you're running open directory it may have created an admin account with the same password as your current admin account, but made the account name "diradmin" With Open Directory enabled on 10.4 server, this account is a default so hopefully if the box did come up, you didn't change the name for it 😉

Check your server's Firewall. You may be blocking access to one of the protocols necessary to access directory information remotely.

Generally, the following protocols need to be enabled for the subnet on which you plan to administer the server:

ICMP/IGMP types, TCP, UDP, GRE
Remote Directory Access; all LDAP, secure LDAP, NetInfo, Kerberos, and Password Server
