Lost Application Folder In Finder.

Somebody help please! I'm only a year into using a Mac and less than a week with Leopard. Guess I did something really DUMB so all you seasoned Mac users might get a laugh. Here's the problem: I wanted to put my Applications folder in my Dock so from the Finder window under Places I dragged my Applications folder down to my Dock and it went "poof" and it's gone from my Finder window and not on my Dock. I can find my Apps in Finder under MAC HD. Can someone please help get my Applications folder back under Places and how to put my Apps on my Dock also?

Your Applications folder is probably right where it's always been. Click on your Finder icon in the Dock then go to Macintosh HD (or whatever you named it)/Applications. Drag the Applications folder to the Sidebar. Then drag the Application folder (not the alias you put on the Sidebar), to the Dock.

EDIT: If still can't find your Applications folder type "/Applications" (without the paren) in your Go menu under "go to folder".

Thanks Macjack, I got my Apps folder back on my side bar per your instructions. But draging the Apps folder from my Mac HD folder (from where I dragged to my side bar) does not put it on my Dock. Nothing happens.

I found the answer! I didn't know I was supposed to drag the Apps folder to the right of the Dock where my downloads folder is.

Just installed Leopard this afternoon - treated myself. Found out the Dock Application icons, although aliased as before, don't 'stack' so I created a folder to tidy up a very packed Dock.
Didn't like the Stack (being a choosy guy!) so Trashed it to start another alternative Folder Stack.
Guess what? They wern't aliased links according to Mr Vishal in Apples "I work from a script" India helpline.
No trace in any sort of HD search. I have only half of them (hi Adobe) on-disc, others were continual upgrades from way back when.
Either I missed the warning, note or comment about adding to this new 'Dock' or is Apple playing around with me?
