Which printer is out that has the least amount of problems with Mac OS X

Ok I have a new Lexmark x4550 and have downloaded the PDE patch and after several attempts it finally worked, then the next day when I tried to print the same error message IJPrintQuality plug-in. So, if anyone knows of a printer that works please help, I am about to take leopard off just to quit having to waste my time with this... AND I DO NOT WANT TO GO BACK TO THE APPLE STORE AND DEAL WITH THAT CHAOS! Is it just me or do people really do enjoy having to make an appointment and then waiting for mac support as they call off names of people that don't show up for them! Thanks!
