Transfering data from Mac Performa

I have a Mac Performa 6290CD with an Iomega Zip Drive Back-up. I would like to move my Works, Claris, and Quicken files to my new MacBook. The old computer does not have USB or ability to write to a CD. How can I transfer the data? Thanks.

You could look for a USB Zip drive for the MacBook. Then you could put a Zip disk into either computer.

Could you e-mail some of the files to yourself and download them to the MacBook? Is the Peforma online at all?

Once upon a time I had a Performa 6205 and I put in a USB 1.1 card I think for under $20. Then you could use a jump drive or other storage device. Much slower than USB 2.0 but should work. Does your Zip drive also have a USB port or is it SCSI only?

I also remember using a crossover Ethernet cable to hook up two computers via Apple Talk. A crossover cable has one or two of the twisted pairs inside switched at one end jack. Modern Macs don't need a crossover cable and any Ethernet CAT 5 is supposed to work.
