do i have 2 be connected to print?

hey,

so, i just hooked up my HP Photosmart 7850 printer to my new mac (only through a USB) and i can print fine. but when im at school, the mac's i use there aren't connected to any printers and they can print to multiple places. does anyone know how i can make my printer accessible without it being connected to my computer?
