iMac G3 333 Mhz has a bit of a blurry screen

Hi,

I picked up an old iMac G3 333 Mhz Tray loader and i notice that the screen isn't very clear when i read the Apple support forum in iCab web browser or any browser i use. For instance the topic title letters in the topic list aren't very clear. it seems that the focus is a bit incorrect..

Is there any way i could adjust this?

Thanks!

Thomas

This is pretty simple if you don't mind taking out a couple screws... >_> I've never used software to do the job, but rather I've always just taken the back off my iMacs and used a phillips screw driver to focus them. I have no idea what said method is called, or what the thing you adjust is called, but it works quite well. It's been awhile since I've done it, but I'm pretty sure you just have to take out the outmost piece of plastic on the iMac and then on the back left there are 2 "screws" that you can adjust. 1 is for focusing and the other was brightness I think. Sorry I'm not being very specific, but it's not something you do every day and I'm too lazy to go find a link. 😉

I almost forgot to add I've done this with a 333MHz (Purple Tray Loader), a 400MHz (Gray SE DV Slot Loader), and a 600MHz (Snow Slot Loader) iMac.

Hey 3X..,
Welcome to Apple Discussions,

OK but I wish you'd use a plastic shaft of somekind to do that. The flyback where the 2 adjustments that you're talking about puts out 25 KV and it's regulated!

Right they can be accessed by taking the bottom off, 4 screws. One is called "screen" and the other is "focus".

Hehe... I'll keep that in mind the next time I do it. 😉 You gotta realize I'm the kind of kid that rips apart electronics when they're working just fine simply so I can see the innards. :P I found the flyback completely by accident on my 333MHz tray iMac when I was like 13 and I had no sense of safety. I remember I turned the brightness one all the way up and the screen went pure white and then the computer died. >_< I imagine I made it pull too much power and it killed itself for safety.

This is from the site below:
"increase the HV and the X-ray protection circuits may kick in."
Also there are other over amp protection circuits in there.
In fact Sam's site is a great place to learn about stuff like that:
