iTunes library (damaged)

Hello !

The other day, I started iTunes and without any apearant reason a whole bunch of my songs weren't there, nor any of my playlists !

When I looked in the file MyMusic > iTunes there was written "iTunes library (damaged)" and I couldn't load it to iTunes.

I would like to be able to retreive all my songs & playlists.

Can anyone help me ? It would be great !

Thanks !!

If you have the same problem than us, I would recommend you not to plug your iPhone (and I guess it would be the same for any iPod) with your computer.
I pluged my iPhone to my computer a few minutes ago, and the synchronisation deleted all the music and all the videos I have on my iPhone...

Thanks Apple, thanks for this bug.
I'm a new Apple user (I bought an iPhone -my first Apple product- a month ago), and I remember then before all the Mac user told me "you have a PC, not a Mac ??? Why do you like bugs so much ???"
Now I can answer them : "the greatest bug I had with my computer ? It was not Microsoft, but Apple..."

I wound up deleting the "damaged" iTunes library file. I then went into my Previous iTunes library folder and I copied, pasted and renamed the most recent file in there and I am back up and running - now I just have to figure out what, if anything, I added to my iTunes library since that last Previous iTunes library file was made - it beats having to redo everything all over. I will now back-up my iTunes library often so that I am up-to-date in case this happens again.

Hi I am extremely Annoyed and FED up with this problem.

I have been having this problem since January 2008. I had 1800 tracks in itunes and over 20 playlists my husband had podcasts and videos and my son had over 30 audiobooks.
My friend has deleted, imported, exported, and psent i woudl guess of 30 hours trying ot find an answer to the question WHY is my Itunes library not found? when we can see it plainly on the system.

THe 3 Ipods we have are no longer synced and havent been since Janaury, Just in case it trashes that too.
AM not happy at all have posted to http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
and I guess will keep trying ot find a solution.

I posted this becaause I want my music and games and podcasts and books back in order.
When will apple admit that there is something wrong with this system.Or is thery anyone out there who can help me.

Re "Damaged" library, OK, I spent all evening on it and FINALLY succeeded in restoring my entire library, but not my playlists. I went to "my music," and dragged the folder entitled "iTunes Music" directly onto my ITunes music list. I did not do this through the "import" function because in that mode, I could only add the files as individual songs and that would have taken forever.

Note, I did initially follow the instructions on "How to re-create your iTunes library." But that did not restore my entire library; I got the box saying that some of the files were missing. I figured out that it was missing everything I downloaded or converted since August of 2007. I did find a folder, one of the yellow file-folders, titled "iTunes Music, and when I looked in there, found that the entire library was included in individual file folders for artists, albums and songs. As I said above, there was no way to "import" this folder in its entirety. I finally just dragged that folder directly onto my open iTunes music list, and bingo, everything was restored. I am SO happy. But not my playlists, but that's okay I can recreate those. Hope that helps.
