Try a small brush.

Reminds me of the old adage: never stick anything larger than your elbow into your ear.
Hope you didn't damage either the speaker or the mic in the process. If you blow into it, it often comes out one of the other holes, cleaning those in the process. If you stick something in, you just force it in further.

I should add (just before anyone else goes there) that if you blow something into your ear, and it comes out the other ear, you have more problems than can be solved on this forum.

i used a stripped cable tie, so it was the bare wire, licked the end and dabbed into each dirtfilled hole, not hygenic i know, but it worked fine. I prefered the taking out rather than blowing in approach.

Noooooooooo i dont stick in far at all, the wife'll verify that one!!! you can use your spit on the wire to attach the specks to. dust a blow and your usually done, but sadly i smoke, and often get tiny bits of tobacco stuck in the holes and i dont really want items that size going inside.

Only one is a speaker; the other is the microphone.
Try a pressurised or hand airblower, of the sort used for photographic applications.
