hooking up external speakers to iPhone

Can anyone hep me with an iPhone question. I'm at work and I tried to hook up speakers from my PC. These are regular computer speakers with the green audio plug. After I hook them up, there is no sound coming out of the speakers when I play a song. Music still comes out the iPhone speakers. Thanks

If you are trying to put the speaker plug in the iPhone headphone jack then odds are the plug is too large and is not going in all the way.

You can either get the $10 adapter or use the line out on the included dock.

if you use the dock than you might have less performance. That's what I experienced...

How so? The dock shouldn't impede performance at all.

I have no clue. I used it with my JBL on stage which works perfect with any iPod.

Ahh, I see.

There should not be a performance drop. Its possible there is an issue with your dock or the cable from the dock to the JBL unit.

Hi I have this same problem-- no matter what I try -- the Bose sound dock, the itrip in car, ihome. Iphone always plays through internal speakers. Did you solve it?

I can connect my Cambridge speakers to my MacBook but when connected to iphone the music still comes our of iphone. The plug is identical to the iphone headphone plug

aiight i did this with some of my speakers and they played fine from the iphone.
you have to cut the rubber part on the male plug so that it fits into the iphone
