If you put a photo from the Library in the iPhoto trash and then empty the trash then the photo is removed from the Library and the HD
However, if you're in an ALBUM and put it in the trash, it removes it from the Album, but NOT the library and not the HD.
So, be sure you're in the Library and try again.

Jan 7, 2008 1:30 PM in response to Samuel Muindiby LarryHN,iPhoto deletes the photos
Pick a photo you do not want -- go to the finder and show iPhoto Library contents and take a look at that photo in the originals folder leaving the show contents open - go back to iPhoto and drag it to the iPhoto trash - check the finder to see that it is still there in Originals (it will be) - go to iPhoto and delete iPhoto trash and go back to the finder and the photo will be gone
Maybe you are missing the iPhoto trash and iPhoto delete iPhoto trash - dragging to the normal trash in the dock does not do it

Jan 7, 2008 1:52 PM in response to LarryHNby Samuel Muindi,Thanks folks. It may have been that the residue of older versions of iPhoto folders from upgrades from my previous computers got transfered over to this new machine.
But I'm just glad to know that I can use iPhoto without hard drive clutter.
Thanks again.
