I have a wireless router that has WEP encryption. I am not sure what to type when the password box appears. My SSID is not on the default setting, but I believe the password is. I think the password may be the 10 character/digit WEP key found on my router.
Could someone please clarify. Thank you.
Also, if the password is the WEP key (for example 123456Z89), would I input 123456Z89(shift-z) or 123456z89 (lowercase).
That depends on if it is a WEP key or WEP passphrase you are talking about. A WEP passphrase is usually used to generate a wep key in your router. A WEP passphrase is case sensitive, a wep key is not. A WEP key generated from a passphrase will either be 10 or 26 hex characters long. If the key is hex it will be only characters a-f and numbers 0-9, and will not be case sensitive.
You should change to WPA encryption. It is much better than WEP and you can have more flexibility on password. No HEX stuff. It is usually a simple setting on your WiFi Router.
