Why do image placeholders sometimes work and sometimes not work?

I was having trouble with images from blog pages not showing up on the blog summary excerpt page. Apparently, I deleted the photo placeholder and just pasted an image instead of replacing the photo placeholder with the new image. I don't understand how that happened.

Apparently, iWeb doesn't think it's an image unless it's in an image placeholder.

I don't really understand this. Or how to get or create a new image placeholder. It must have something to do with how I create entries and put images into them. Sometimes when I put the image into the page, in the placeholder, it shows up on the excerpt page, but not always.

For example, right now, the first four blog pages have images in placeholders, but the editing summary has "show pictures" selected, but only the first entry has a picture.

AARGH!

The images are still not showing up! I've put in placeholders, as directed, I've dragged images in to fill the placeholders, I've put in a new first page just to show that I can make one of them work, but the other pages are kerphlooey.

I'm feeling very frustrated with this right now.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I haven't really investigated this in 08, but in iWeb06, if you deleted the stock image in the page, you deleted the place holder. I assume the same thing goes on in iWeb08.

Don't delete the stock photo; replace it by dragging the new one directly into it. Drag your photo right into the stock photo. I don't know how to reinstall the place holder on a page that has had it deleted. Usually you have to just rebuild the page.

I posted something on a similar thread about the same issue. I tried to drag an image with a place holder from another "good" blog page, but that didn't help. I'm thinking that perhaps, once the main blog page is compiled with a new entry, it doesn't bother to recompile changes to photos.... but that's just a theory. I'm frustrated as well. Why isn't there an option to add a new place holder if one gets deleted?

I definitely empties the browser cache, as I thought that might be the culprit.

I did not do the "publish all". I'll try that tonight.

Even more bizarre... the page that I was having trouble getting the new picture to show on the main blog page..... I deleted a few other pictures from lower on that page, but still have the top left picture that is used to populate the main blog page... after I hit publish that time, it did modify the main blog page, now no picture shows up whatsoever. So after all this I've gone from an out of date photo to no photo!
