Installing x11 on 10.4.11

I recently installed the combo update for 10.4.11. Prior to that, I was running 10.4.9 which was a freebie from mac via e-mail- don't have the installation disk.

I have now downloaded the installer for x11, which to my knowledge I have never installed or had before.

Upon opening the installer- “Select a destination volume” = Mac HD (my only volume- not partitioned) has exclamation point in red. Click on it , says:

“You cannot install X11 on this volume. Newer software already exists on your computer.”

When I run a search for X11, I don’t find it anywhere on my computer but with the installer.

My copy of OSX is legitimate. I was running what came with my Powerbook G4, with updates periodically. That was pre-10.4. When I bought an iphone, it wouldn't sync on the old system. Apple e-mailed me a legitimate copy of 10.4.09 as a freebie so I could use my phone. There was no installation disk.

The x11 is what I downloaded from Apple's current download site.

Thanks,
Gary

man, i had the same problem - the installer on the apple website is useless. if you want to install it without the osx 10.4 disk there is a website out there by a guy named Chris James Martin who will let you download the app (it works, i have it) for free. I wont post the url because last time i did apple threw a hissy fit and removed my post from the forum.

hope it solves your problem,

Jordan.
