Look at the progress bar at the top by tapping on the video one time.
Are you sure it's finished downloading?
You need to watch that to see if that's the issue.
You may be seeing pauses because the video is not yet fully loaded, or loading more slowly than the video is being downloaded to the Touch.

    Hello Scott
cheers for replying, i honestly dont think it fully downloads the video does it? when ive viewed the status bar it does appear to have all the movie, realy strange it will work then wont, i thought of clearing the cashe but no joy. example i tried to watch a youtube clip but as it often does paused, i then closed down the app and reloaded the vid, well this time it played right through. very odd.

It "loads" the video - I'm not sure as Apple doesn't say, but it might be RAM, flash, or both, but it does load the video before playing.
You're saying though that it IS finishing and still pausing?

What OS is your Touch running?
    Have you tried a reset?
Hold the Sleep+Home buttons until the Apple log appears - ignore the "slide to turn off" message on the screen.
    Does that help?

    hello scott
sorry for delaying in replying to you, ive discovered it does load the movie in first, and i was confused in thinking it was pausing, it was the case that the movie hadent loaded yet, but it can take a while to load a say 2minute video clip, to long sometimes which makes it unpractual to use, iam runnung windows vista, with a TP-LINK TL-WR641G Wiress Hub, internet use is fast but when it comes to viewing youtube vids , it can be painfully slow, can you think of anything iam doing wrong here? the ipod gets reset most days mate when i switch it off.

    thanks

well, you won't get around downloading the video. how should your iPod show data (and a video is - as everything else on a computer - data) that it has not downloaded? it has to know the data to present them to you. so, like on your home computer when watching a youtube video, you have to download the video to actually watch it.

if it's slow you should check your internet connection. how many blue bars does your WiFi-indicator show on your iPod? maybe there is a problem with your internet connection?

    hello m8an
thanks for your input, my ipod Wifi indicator shows full bars, as i said internet usage on the touch is smooth, pages load like a dream, its just when it comes to loading up vids in youtube, typical 2min clip can take upto 5minutes to load and play, this can not be normal can it? when i first got my touch, i was playing youtube clips without any problem then without me doing anything to the touch i started to have these loading issues, very odd.

well, as far as I know the ipod/iphone youtube service has its own servers. so maybe they are just a little slow these days because everyone got an ipod for christmas and is playing with it or something? It's possible. but in general it shouldn't take that long.

    ---
I just tried it myself from the youtube app on my ipod and I have to say that it is indeed pretty slow. so this seems to be a problem with the youtube servers rather than with your ipod.

I would advise you to try this: play a video and just do nothing at all. I think the ipod takes your average download speed and the size of the video and according to those it starts playing automatically when it thinks that it is very unlikely you will get interrupted watching.
of course you could still get interrupted if your downloading speed dropped significantly, but if I just let the iPod do it's thing I never got interrupted so far. it still takes like 3 minutes for a 2 minute video until it starts playing, but it's the best way I guess ...

yea know what you mean, seems to be a downloading issue with youtube, ive played vid before and they play fine, just downloading a 9minute clip and its taking a age to download, i see what you mean about downloading to a point were they can stream the rest of the clip as your watching, maybe its ok to watch a 2min clip but realy not practal to watch a 10minute clip, not unless you have a highspeed internet connection, mine at present is 2mb download.

    Hey David,

I think it's totally dependent upon the connection and the video being downloaded.
Not much we can do -YouTube is hit heavily, and some vid's are more popular.
I'd like to know what speed your wifi connection is - the connection to the 'net also.

    Sounds pretty normal.
I think you're seeing typical behavior with this.
YouTube is heavily used, and my experience is pretty much the same.
But I do have a 6Mb down connection.

    Cheers,
    Scott

I get the same problem on my network/Internet connection. It's weird though that when I use some other people's networks, youtube works real fast - I can start watching the videos straight away. Also, I rarely have problems on my own network with videos streamed off net.
