Save photo after rotating?

How are you opening the Original files? Are you accessing the files in the Originals folder in the Finder?

It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss

You know that iPhoto performs all operations on a copy of the file and that your Original is left untouched?

You'll need to export them from iPhoto to a folder and then import that into FCE. This is because FCE, like it's big brother FCP and even Aperture, want to manage the files themselves and so won't integrate with a consumer level app like iPhoto. This is the only safe way to do this. It's certainly the fastest - and a whole lot faster than trying to locate a single pics in iPhoto Library Folder / Originals/ Rollwhatever - or Modified / Roll Whatever. Remember, that's a very good way to damage your library.

save it into the test edit folder?

No, just save it as normal in iPhoto (you can't save to somewhere...) and then drag and drop it to the folder from the iPhoto Window.
