Formatting Text in Keynote

I cannot find a way to see the actual fonts when changing fonts in Keynote. Neither the format menu or the Fonts dialogue show the actual fonts. Is there a workaround for this?

Dual Core 2.0 G5, 7800GT, 2.4Ghz MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

The Font Panel can show previews. At the bottom of the panel is the "gear" Action dropdown menu -- one of the menu items is "Show Preview". You can also reveal the preview area by going to the top of the panel, just under the title bar, and drag on the very tiny circular depression widget.
