Film composing/global tempo issues

I'm having trouble with a problem that probably has a simple solution: How do I make changes in the global tempo area without the movie moving? Every time I make a change in the global tempo area, the movie moves, too. Once that happens, none of my tracks sync up with the film. I want to be able to make tempo changes that do not effect the placement of the movie. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
