applescript won't always launch

I've been having problems with scripts that I create on my mac not launching when i try to run them on other macs. There's nothing fancy going on just a "do shell script" or "mount_volume". I end up having to open the scripts in script editor on the mac I've copied to and re-save the script. Does anyone know what could cause this? Is there something I could do to make them more compatible? I'm not calling any third part extensions. All macs are running X.3.9
