automatically convert raw to jpeg, keep adjustments?

Hi all,

I am looking for a workflow / script that allows me to convert some of my RAW files to jpeg while keeping the adjustments (i.e., I want to dublicate the original, convert it to jpeg, then clone the adjustments to the jpeg pic, and then delete the original RAW file). Is anyone aware of an automator script or any solution that can do this automatically?

Thank you for your support!

Peter,

Why do you want to do this - if we know the background, we can help better.

to get JPEGS, you can '+export versions'+. You could then delete the masters and re-import the JPEGS.

However, if you just want to save disk space, (which is what I wanted to do once), then analyse how many photos you take and how much it costs to store them - you may decide it's not worth it. I calculated (based on the 750gb drive I had just bought) that I was using £6 or storage a year and that I'd need a new drive in 18 years! (halve those figures to allow for backups).

Regards,

Steve

Stephen,

you're right - the main reason I want to do this is to save hard disk space. I am mainly shooting RAW and want to convert the masters of most of them to JPEGs in the Aperture Library, but to keep adjustments. I'd also prefer to have those images on my main hard drive an not to back them up seperatly if possible...

If I export versions as jpegs, is that an export of the master + adjustments, or an export of the adjusted master? If its the former, then I'd be happy...

Thanks so far,
Peter

When you "Export Versions", whatever adjustments you've made to your pictures will be kept on the export. Remember that the version is more like a set of instructions to apply to the master. When you export, the instructions are applied based on the version you have selecte, and then the conversion to output format takes place, whichis JPEG in your case. (This is in contrast to Export Masters.)
