Dreamweaver Won't Open

I installed Leopard on my G-4 Dual 867 yesterday, and everything seemed to work fine. But when I try to open Dreamweaver 8, I get a message saying "A problem was detected with your application. Please reinstall this software to correct the problem."

I tried reinstalling the software, but the same thing happens. Any ideas?

DW runs fine in leopard on an intel Mac. I assume it should run okay or maybe even better on a PPC. I do know for sure that leopard sometimes modifies permission settings and in the process assigns the wrong permissions to an application, resulting in breaking the app or causing it run with errors.

The easiest way I've found to repair permissions (besides the terminal) is to use the shareware app "FileXaminer." After opening FileXaminer, simply open finder to the file, app or folder you want to change permissions on, click and drag the file, folder or app to the FileXaminer icon on the dock and a window will open allowing you check and/or set permissions.

I have Dreamweaver MX 2004 installed, originally on OS 10.3.9, and then continued with subsequent upgrades in OS to 10.4.11. Something has changed recently because now DW won't open at all. I have tried repairing permissions and booted from OS install disk to verify/repair disk (did not need it, it said) I have downgraded back to 10.4 and then back to 10.4.10. I have re-upgraded Java (though not all the way to release 6--I think the last upgrade is when the trouble started). At every step, I have completely removed all files of DW MX 2004 and tried a clean install. It looks like it is trying to start up the app, there is momentarily the beach ball, but then nothing; no error message, no freeze of the computer, nothing. Any ideas?
Also have tried installing from installer copied to hard drive--nada.

Yes, I ran verify and fix permissions and verify harddrive from Disk Utilities. Some of the Macromedia files permissions were repaired, but still could not get DWMX2004 to open. I also did as you suggested with the permissions in the info window, but still nothing.
Could this be related to some kind of conflict with Java? Currently I'm at 1.4.2_16 after again upgrading. I'm going to try to wipe all Macromedia/Dreamweaver files (again) by searching and trashing. Any other suggestions?

I found the solution.
Sometimes reading those "read me" docs actually help. When I re-installed Dreamweaver MX 2004 after doing all the ministrations above, the html welcome screen had a section on new things in this version of dreamweaver. Further down there was a section on known issues with DW MX 2004. In that section was a link to Adobe software support service note tn_18933: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_18933&sliceId=1
I downloaded this very small file and voila! Hours of frustration solved.
I hope this helps others who might have had or will have the same problem.
