ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT Graphics Card in 'old' Mac Pro

Please, can someone take a ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT Graphics card from a 'new' mac pro, or from stock, put it in an 'old' Mac Pro v1.1 (any before 2008) and report here exactly what happens ?

Thanks. Please only post if you know or have pretty solid info.

Does anyone know if 10.5.2 has done anything which affects using the HD 2600 XT card in an old Mac Pro?

I have one sitting in a box as a spare for my X1900 which I was sure was failing but has behaved well since I got the 2600! I tried the 2600 briefly in 10.5.1 when I got it, and it seemed to work fine except for the disconcerting behaviour on start up where the Apple logo and cog wheel appear on the secondary monitor. All is normal when fully booted. A few others have reported similar.

Wondered if this had changed with 10.5.2 + Graphics update ?

I can answer answer my own question here. My X1900 started giving lines again, so I out the HD 2600XT in. The strange start up behaviour described above has been fixed by the 10.5.2 + Graphics update package.

As you can see from the post above I have just put a HD2600XT card in my 2006 Mac Pro.

If by 10/12/16 bit colour, you mean thousands/millions in the display prefs, then the answer is yes. If you mean something else I'll gladly check if you tell me what to do.

Both my 23 and 30 inch monitors calibrate fine with Eye-one 2 puck and BasICColor software.

I meant what color depths you can use as "Internal pixel format" in FCS2's Color 1.0.2.

So I just scooped up a 2600 for my old mac pro to function as a second card to power a third monitor and HDTV. the bottom slot card is a 1900.
two issues I'm having:

1) dvd player.app DOES NOT work when there are monitors plugged into both cards. launch = immediate crash. if I unplug the monitor from the 2600, I can launch and begin playback of a dvd and then replug and everything works fine.

2) MANY other things seem not quite right after adding this card. quicktime movies are sluggish when scaled and switching between several videos causes them all the flash white for a second. ??

I'm using the
4x 4x 1x 16x
PCI config with a RAID card in the top, the 2600 in the second, the third empty and the 1900 in the bottom.

anything anyone could say to illuminate the problem would be much appreciated. most of what I read before purchase was that this card would work and it most decidedly does not.
