shared lbrary error? What is it?

I've been happily using some software that worked well when I used OS9, and continued to work under OSX when I booted in OS9. I tried to upgrade it to a version that would work under OSX, but that wouldn't work. I reinstalled the original version. Now when I try to run it as a Classic application I get messages like this: "The application "(null)" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "2<Blink Carbon><Blink Carbon><IQA Toolbox_PPCv2>"
Or else a message saying that CarbonLib is switched off. I've checked the OS9 extensions - all on - run disk utility, repaired permissions - where do I go from here? Can anyone help?

You don't really mean ' continued to work under OSX when I booted in OS9' do you? Do you mean continued to work in Classic 9 running over X?

When you tried to upgrade it to a version that would work under OSX, but that wouldn't work what did happen, please?

It sounds as though that upgrade changed something that 9 doesn't like, in which case since a downgrade is unlikely, you may need to first uninstall anything to do with that application then reboot then reinstall the earlier version. Is this Polaroid DMC, or what?

When you checked the OS9 extensions and they're all on did that specifically include Carbon Lib? What version of Carbon Lib do you have, and what version of 9 does About this Mac report?
