fedora won't start via parallels

Hi there.. Yesterday I was asking whether I can have linux on my mac... Today my linux is already there, installed on a virtual drive in Parallels tools... but here's the problem: it won't start up.. after (I think successful) booting it says after screen blinking, something like this: "The display server has been shut several times during last 90 seconds....." I've tried everything, rebooting the virtual machine as well as my macbook, changing preferences in parallels like adding up memory and video memory, what's the problem?
thanx everyone

It sounds like your Linux installation is working perfectly. That is why we like Macs so much. I run VectorLinux in Parallels and it works fine. I am sure other people run fedora in Parallels and their systems run fine. However, Linux is not like Windows or MacOS X. Every single Linux installation is different. You have to track down the X11 server log files and find out for yourself why it is dying. It is not that we don't want to help, it is just that there is no way to help without having you physically mail your machine to me. Linux is for people who enjoy tinkering around with this sort of stuff.

Ubuntu is just as much a monster as fedora. It is possible you haven't allocated enough RAM to your VM. Running a VM on a machine with only 1 GB is pushing it. I tried that when I first got my Macbook and I had some strange screen effects. Still, that is just a guess. If you want to run linux, a $50 investment on 2 GB of RAM is a pretty good idea. You might try posting your question in the Parallels support forum.

well yeah i see the booting process, just the moment it wants to switch to the gui it finds out it can't and shows a message like the graphical server has been shut about 6 times in the last 90 seconds,.... i've found some people having the same issue on other linux forums (unfortunately not related to parallels)...
so i guess that the os is working... I tried installing the latest ubuntu and it has the same problem, now i am trying mandriva, if this one posts the same message again, i don't know what i'm gonna do...
anyway, don't u know of any non-gui distro? it would be really great to get rid of this issue, i don't need the gui anyway.
thanx a lot.

thanx everybody anyway
