Active hyperlink in .pdf document

Is it possible in Pages to create a .pdf document that still retains the hyperlinks that are active in the original Pages file? I am creating a splash page for an email and would like the hyperlink to open my website.

Hi Diawn,
Allow me to interject some information. When the link in Pages isn't active it won't be active when created to a PDF. Yes Adobe Reader will see it as active, Preview won't. Typing a web address doesn't make it a active link.

To activate a hyperlink in Pages:
1. Highlight the entire link in pages
2. Open the inspector, click the second to last icon, Link Inspector.
3. Click Enable as a Hyperlink.
4. Chose Link to: Webpage
5. Fill in the URL line as needed.

You're active hyperlink is now created. Both Preview and Adobe Reader will see it as active.

Do let us know if this helps you.

Sincerely,

RicD

Yes and No.

It is possible ONLY if you also buy a full version of Adobe Acrobat. This is not a limitation of Pages - I am not aware of any non-Adobe product that will allow one to create PDFs that retain advanced features like bookmarks or hyperlinks. You can't do it in Word. You can't do it in Wordperfect. You can't do it in Appleworks.

The reason is that the PDF format is owned by Adobe. Adobe will license a limited version so that the masses can create basic PDFs, but it's not going to give the store away.

Good luck,

Terry
