What's with the ringtones?

What's with the ringtones?

Ring-tones have been added to the menu in my iTunes 7.5.
Is this a feature only reserved for the iPhone? It finally got my interest as we have just inherited our 'first' phone with bluetooth capability. The phone can synch addresses but I wanted to try to input a song into the ring-tones. Dragging songs from our iTunes library did yield the 'drag type + symbol', but got dismissed once it entered the 'ring-tones' menu.
Cannot find within the iTunes store any options to 'purchase' ring-tones either (Australian store) so what is this all about? ITunes help menu could not let me know.

Ringtones from the iTunes Store are for iPhones only. Sorry.

Many Bluetooth-enabled phones (like my Motorola PEBL) can play any MP3 or unprotected AAC as a ringtone — you may not need iTunes. Check online for info about your specific model.

Thank you Josef. Only one applies to me (no iPhone) be 08 Garage band based on the link you sent, don't have this either. However, it's bookmarked for the future when I do upgrade from Tiger/iLife06.

Our first bluetooth phone ever is a Nokia6131, probably by now an antic......hand me down from friends. I am just excited it actually synched to the iMac at this stage. Been to the Nokia page, lost as to where I can do such things-links, mac has only been with us for 2 years.

The manual at http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/guides/Nokia6131_UGen.pdf suggests that the phone should auto-detect MP3s that you have put on its card. If you can get the files on there via Bluetooth (via a file browser of some sort), you should be able to use them as ringtones.
