Hi--using OS X 10.4.11 and TextEdit 1.4.
I'm trying to figure out how to save a document as read-only.
There's an item in the Preferences "Save files as Read & Write"; however, whether I have that checked or not doesn't seem to make a difference, I can still write to all saved files. (Maybe that setting doesn't mean what I think it means, since the default setting is off, which seems a little odd that read-only would be the default mode).
There's a page on Apple's web site referring to a menu item Format->Make Read Only, but that must be referring to an older version since I don't see it anymore.

Any help appreciated--
