Windows XP user cannot see all folders on share

hello,

we ran into the weird problem that a windows user was able to connect to a share just fine but does not seem to see all folders in this share. there seems to be no pattern behind it, different folders seem to disappear randomly (they are not invisible, they are just gone). checked permissions and everything.

if i log in with user credentials from leopard client i can see all folders just fine.

any suggestions?

Hi Alex!

How are you connecting from Windows? Are you mounting a share from RUN/mapping a network drive or using OpenDirectory to authenticate?

Also, it seems that SAMBA/SMB is having some issues right now. Here's a link to a similar thread for client which may point you in the right direction. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5748026

The fourth post by darthdunk has something you can try. Good luck!

thank you for the reply.

since it is on leopard server we transferred permissions via server admin/workgroup manager. didn't change a thing. also it seems that all pc's have that problem in common. checked on a vista pc and it also could not see the same folders. went over folder information and we cannot find any difference to others on the same share.

all win clients connect simply by typing \\xserve\share in windows explorer. they did not join od.
