How do I refresh network places in the Finder? When I have a computer turn on in my network, the computer's shared places do not appear in my Finder even after a few minutes. BUT, I can still connect to that specific computer when I connect to it specifically using its IP address and the 'Connect to Server...' feature.
Thanks in advance!

Hi there,
I had the same problem, but I found out that restarting the finder solves this very well. (I know, it's a pretty dirty workaround but it helped)
Just press cmd
optionesc, choose the finder and restart it. All inactive network places should disappear afterwards.
I wanted that too, but Apples philosophy of a perfect world doesn't need it (well.. indeed.. if everything would propagate itself constantly, it wouldn't be needed). However, you can fake it by simply restarting Finder. Most times this works and the shares are displayed again
Yeah same here. B/c i have all routed network between 5 computers it.s not always possible to or even successful to disconnect. i sometimes have to re-boot which again is not always possible. other computers are sometimes the problem.
There has to be a way.... somebody... anybody>????>>????
From the Finder app, you should be able to select "Network" from the "Go" menu -- that should give you an up-to-the-second updated list of network places.
Hope that helps! (gotta give my wife credit for discovering that; we were struggling with this exact issue a few minutes ago)
