Mac Pro & Windows XP SP2 & Adaptec

I have a Mac Pro with a running version of Windows XP SP2 installed. When I insert an Adaptec 29320LPE card into a PCIe slot and reboot, the machine goes through the EFI boot process, and then stops on a black screen with a flashing white cursor top left hand corner.

The problem according to Adaptec is that the machine is trying to load the BIOS on the Adaptec card, and won't because EFI is not compatible with the Adaptec card.

2 questions:
1. Is it possible to disable the Adaptec bios using a Mac? I don't have a Windows machine handy, or
2. Is it possible to tell EFI to ignore the BIOS on the Adaptec card?

Ta.

I'm looking for anyone who has this card working or even recognized by a Mac Pro. I bought one to try to connect a couple of old but specialized SCSI scanners we need in my department. The card doesn't even show up in System Profiler, nor does Windows (Parallels) see it. One of the scanners, a Ricoh Aficio IS01, will have to be used through Parallels, since it only has Windows drivers (none from Hamrick/Vuescan either, I'm afraid). I REALLY don't want to install a PC just to run this scanner!

Alternatively, are there any other low-cost SCSI cards that work on a Mac Pro?

I'm having the exact same problem, although I was thinking that maybe this card could work under OS 10.5.2 if it didn't work under Windows. (It is recognized under the OSX System Profiler).

Well, if you happen upon any other cards that work, please post back. I guess I'm going to have to continue my search so that I can get a SCSI device to work with my machine. If I do find something that works, I'll post back her as well.
