Macbook 2.2 & BenQ G2400w

I've recently bought two BenQ G2400W (DVI-HDMI 1900 x 1200 )monitors for use with two different Macbooks 2.2 (Santa Rosa chipset & Leopard).

The problem is this; Whilst I can get the monitors to work over the analogue connection it is impossible to get an image via the DVI or HDMI connectors.I have tried to use four different Mini DVI to DVI connectors as well as DVI cables. The Macbooks have no problem working via the DVI with some Formac displays I also have.

Can anyone help? Thanking you in advance for your time.

oh for f* sake
who's fault is this, Benq or Apple. why did I pay extra 100 euros for dvi and hdmi if I can't use them. Can someone fix this. As far as I can think this is Apple's problem because G2400W monitor works with other computers so problem has to be in OS X.

Got the same problem here.
I tried removed the tape on Pin16 and still no hope.

I think that's the problem of the mini-DVI.

by the way, how can I downgrade OSX from 10.5.5 to 10.5.4?

I habe exactly the same problem, the workaround (with a bent pin in my dvi cable) worked fine until i upgraded to 10.5.5... Anyone got any more information on this?

I've experienced the same problem. The 'fix' was working just fine until the 10.5.5 update.

I've tried several solutions:
- DVI cable with a working pin 16. Result: no luck.
- DVI to HDMI cable to connect to the HDMI port on the BenQ G2400W screen. Result: no luck.
- Back to a traditional D-Sub cable. Result: works, but the image is much more blurry than DVI.

So for now it looks like we're stuck with D-Sub.

Did anyone report this issue to Apple via their feedback form yet ( http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html)?

I actually did before 10.5.5 came out but instead of fixing it they broke it completely.

Anyone with this issue should submit, so this issue gains enough momentum.

I reported it (after 10.5.5 breaking the "workaround"), described the problem and also pointed them to this forum-thread. I hope everyone that has this problem does that, so they see that this is a real issue.

Me too. Really hoping to see this problem go away.

Btw, I have a MacBook 2.4 (Intel) with Mac OS X 10.5.5 and I can get a picture using DVI-HDMI cable. It's not really usable solution, though. The monitor gets all blue when there is no signal, so you end up using the main switch all the time. And if the monitor is not on when Mac is opened or started, there will be no picture.

As a fresh "switcher" i thought that those incompatiblities would be a thing of the past, but i was wrong and even worse is that Apple doesn't seem to fix this problem. I like OSX and asked myself why i didn't switch early, but this issue is one big point which speaks against it.

APPLE fix this!!

Tried the 10.5.6. Didn't work for me for my iMac 24".
Still only able to get it running @ 1600x1200 instead of 1920x1200. 😟

Hack worked for me too. Luckily my new MacBook still runs on 10.5.4. I won't be changing that any time soon until they get this fixed. Just got the BenQ and then it doesn't work. That's what I thought makes Apple so attractive to users - being easily compatible, having plug and play fun. I guess not :/
