I'm with you. I've just recently upgraded to a Nokia 6230i from a Sony 700i.

Although the Sony phone played up, it work perfectly with iSync. I thought that I would go for the reliability of the Nokia, but what a mistake on my part.

Now I am stuck with the Nokia for at least 12 months. It will probably go in a cupboard and I will continue to struggle with the Sony.

Apple is missing the boat with the Nokia 6230/6230i. If they want more people to crossover from the PC platform they are going to have to a **** of a lot more work. I have used Macs for nigh on 20 years, and little things like the issue of iSync totally infuriate me.

Come on Mr Jobs and your team, buck up your ideas.

Why don't you fill this form out, don't know if it will do any good, but I've done it.

I was actually going to purchase the new and one of the best phones on the market today the nokia 6230i. But as you guys have said that mac decided to follow the masses and make the newest and one of the best phones on the market compatable with isync, it looks like i wont. Why mac why? Come on guys, this is the first mac i have ever bought because you were infront when it came to notebooks, but as always it looks like software is letting you down.

All the guys at mac have to do is make a new upgrade and jump on ebay and see what phone people are buying and make them all compatable. But then i forgot you guys might be recieving some generious benefits from the tel comms.

I thought that I'd poke my head in here and stop the Apple bashing. This is more Nokia's problem than it is Apple's. There are some companies (like Sony Ericsson for example) that pretty much give any interested companies all the information they need in order to be able to provide bluetooth support. Nokia, however, is not one of those companies. Nokia may make use of existing communications standards, but they still do things their own way. What I mean by that is that while they may handle communication normally, the data may not come through in a standard way (names and phone numbers coming in reverse order for example). Another problem that Nokia introduced is that they are inconsistent across their own product line. With Sony Ericsson phones it is quite easy to support their Bluetooth phones since they all act the same. Unfortunately, to be able to properly support Nokia phones it is necessary to reverse engineer each and every phone you want to support. Nokia is absolutely no help at all with this kind of thing.

Just as a side note: I do not work for Apple. I just happen to know a lot about this stuff.

Well, what do we do?? I purchased the 6230 for one day, decided to bring it back since it was going to be involved to get my almost 1000 contacts and info over to the Nokia. Phone Director could do it with some working on for a while and I really did not want to go through all that each time, so I returned it and now cannot find a similar style to the Nokia 6230 that can use Isync.

So, what did you decide to do, most of the current phones cannot sync through the I sync, at least that are similar to the 6230, I do not want all the flip phones, and other type of slide out types or anything, just small, regular looking phone with Bluetooth. Siemens says the K700i works but Cingular says that the 1900 band is only one useable in their system, so you will have limited servicem, then that's a whole other issue.

Just trying to find a phone similar but really do not have to jump through too many hoops to sync all this data.

Your comment is appreciated.
