iSync with Nokia 9300/9500

Looks like so many folks are frustrated on the Nokia 9300/9500 not listed as the supported device under iSync. Here's a work around and works fine for me so far for about 3 months now. But the pain is every time you upgrade the iSYnc you have to repeat the same procedures since the new update will overwrite the .plst file.

Nokia 9300 iSync installation procedure

1. Follow the procedure stated under “Software code to be added to Mac”
2. Clean up all previous BT sync about Nokia 9300
3. Restart your Mac
4. hard reset Nokia 9300 with either one of the following key sequence
a) remove battery, at Nokia logo press “CTRL SHIFT
b) press “CTRL CHRSHIFT” and press “K” 5 times

5. pair with Mac, Mac will send a sync agent to your phone. The sync agent code will be on your Messaging Inbox.

6. Install the iSync agent on the Nokia 9300

7. DO NOT OPEN or MOVE THE “iSync Config” icon after installation is completed

8. Start sync with iSync

Software code to be added to Mac

1. Go to Application Folder, press “CTRL+Mouse” over iSync icon, select “Show Package Content”
2. Select “Metaclassed.plist” from the following path
Contents-PlugIns-ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice-Contents-PlugIns-PhoneModelsS ync.phoneplugin-Contents-Resources

3. Open the file with TextEdit
4. Add the following code after the definition for Nokia 7650, watch out the space, make sure they are on the same level as the previous one
<key>com.nokia.9300</key>
<dict>
<key>Identification</key>
<dict>
<key>com.apple.gmi+gmm</key>
<string>Nokia+Nokia 9300</string>
</dict>
<key>InheritsFrom</key>
<array>
<string>com.nokia.serie60v2.0</string>
</array>
<key>Services</key>
<array>
<dict>
<key>ServiceName</key>
<string>com.apple.model</string>
<key>ServiceProperties</key>
<dict>
<key>ModelName</key>
<string>9300</string>
<key>PhoneIcon</key>
<string>NOK9300.tiff</string>
</dict>
</dict>
</array>
</dict>

5. Add a “NOK9300.tiff” on the same folder

I have the Nokia icon file in my Mac, unless I found the way to upload I guess you have to find it some other place

you are quite right that removing the battery and pressing K five times after start up does reset the phone to the factory setting. this is the way that make sure nothing related to the isync agent and sync settings with the Mac. If you don't feel comfortable to do so, just do a normal power reset and start pairing the phone with the Mac. Normal power reset will not guarantee it will work but doing a hard reset does.

If your boss has a Windows based PC handy, just copy all the info to that Windows PC first before hard reset. Copy the contents back after the hard reset and do a pairing with Mac, isync afterwards.

Hope the above helps.
