64 bit version on iTunes?

There is no 64 bit Windows version of iTunes at present. However most people get iTunes to work if they download and install the 64 bit gear drivers required for burning.

Unfortunatley iPhone support does not work. I inderstand that when an iPhone is plugged in, iTunes gives an error message referring to a 64 bit version of iTunes. That is the only hint that a 64 bit Windows compatible version is under development, but until Apple make an announcement, we can only guess.

This is confusing me. On the iTunes download page, system spec: "64-bit editions of Windows Vista". On running the installer: "It is highly recommended you download and install the 64 bit iTunes installer instead". Unfortunately I can't find the 64 bit version!

When using Vista 64 bit, turns out you have to use the 64 bit version of IE to visit this site.

1) run "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"
2) visit this URL:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

You'll then be offered the proper iTunes64Setup.exe download.

D'oh! I was using Firefox! Downloading now..

Looks like 7.6 works for 64bit Vista.....However I have 64bit Windows XP? Any version work for that? Anyone coming?

I'm running Vista 64-bit but am unable to download files to this system, I use a non 64-bit OS for that. Does anybody have a work-around for downloading a different version of the setup file than what will run on that paticular system? Does Apple have a download library for someone to manually pick what they want to download instead of the auto-detect method?
Somthing for them to think about...

Correct. The system requirements for iTunes sspecify 64bit Vista only.

Soooo.... basically those of us who are using XP x64 sp2 are left in the dark. That's kinda stupid. I can't even install Vista with my asus A8N32-sli mother board so that's lame 😟

iTunes 7.6 does support any 64-bit edition of Windows Vista, but it does require you download the iTunes64setup.exe. If your browser does not report you are running Vista 64-bit you will not get the 64-bit version of iTunes.

i have 64 bit windows XP as well. all is working OK, but when i try to download some of the series i am subscribed to on iTunes it tells me i need iTunes 7.6...

when i try to download that it only gives me Windows 64 bit version, or itunes64setup.exe.

i used a 32 bit version of iTunes and was happy, is there a 32 bit version of iTunes 7.6? How do i download it?

There is, but the only way I was able to get it was to dual boot into XP (32 bit version) and then download it. Some folks say that with Firefox on Xp x64 you can download the 32 bit version of iTunes, but with me both Firefox and IE both only allowed me to download itunes64setup.exe so I had to go into 32 bit XP in order to download it.

the 64-bit version doesn't work for vista 64-bit because it is looking for Machine32.... in regedit, there is no machine32, it's just Machine.

I'm in the same boat, Windows XP x64, old 32-bit version of iTunes works, 4.6 32-bit gives me the warning:

"This iTunes installer is intended for 32-bit versions of Windows. It is highly recommended that you download and install the 64-bit iTunes installer instead. Continue with install?"

I say yes, because the 64 bit version is for Vista only (and doesn't work)

I then go next, next etc and it starts installing then I get a dialog:

"iTunes Insatlled Completed

The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured.

To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again."

any suggestions for getting iTunes 4.6 working on x64?
