eMac powers up but no image

I have an emac that has had the analog display replaced, logic board replaced, and down converter replaced all with in the last year. Everytime I try to turn it on the system powers up but no chime and nothing on the screen. Any suggestions on where to go from here?

eMac, Mac OS X (10.3.x)

No chime? Do you have headphones plugged into the speaker port ont he side of the eMac?

Does the front power LED light up and the fan come on, or is it just the light? Can you feel any hum with your hand on the chassis?

Check your paperwork from the major repairs you had within the last year. Is a warranty period period specified?

If you have a voltmeter, check the PRAM battery while under load (i.e., still in the eMac battery compartment). If the battery is more than 0.1v of from the nominal 3.6v specification, replace it (see the instructions at eMac - Do-It-Yourself). A dead PRAM battery can prevent a Mac from booting. The 1/2 AA 3.6v lithium battery is available online or in stock at places like Radio Shack.

I have a similar problem with my daughters eMac ATI Graphics. Sometimes it starts with no chime or front LED (only fan). Other times the LED also lights but the screen is still dead. One out of 30 times it comes all the way up. The PRAM battery is new and I did a PMU reset (reset button is inside the memory access window on the opposite side from the battery on the ATI Graphics model). My volt meter confirms 3.66 vdc on the battery so all is well.

I used to have this problem often, but then realized that if I had the sound off (by setting sound off using keyboard key with speaker icon), when the eMac was shut off, would cause it to start without the "chime" sound.

Before shut down of the eMac, make sure the sound (internal speakers) has not been disabled or turned off. If sound is on when shut down, it should start with the "chime" sound.
