can I use my iMac CRT display as a display for my mac mini?

I have an old iMac CRT which I love, but the processor speed is really starting to show its age. I have a more recent mac mini, but don't have a display to use with it. Is there a way to use this iMac soley as a display for the mac mini? I've taken the iMac apart before, so I'm comfortable with that. Anyone have ideas? Thanks!

Dude you have a 30" Apple Cinema Display for your G5 and want to use a 14" for your Mini?
OK Tray or Slot?
I've tried it with a Tray, it needs VGA to Old Mac adapters but it also needs some kind of signal to close the relay in the PAV that turns on the monitor.
Not sure about the Slot but it would certainly require some kluging of the video interconnect between the PAV and logic board.

How about gutting the iMac and putting the mini inside with a high quality LCD?

ha, yeah i have a 30" display and a G5 - but that's mine ... I'm doing this other thing for my wife 😉
She doesn't require as much in a computer! ha.

It's a "Slot" iMac. I've wondered about putting the mini inside the iMac enclosure, but I kind of want to "preserve" that mac since it's so old and has some sentimental value now. Anyway, I figured there was just some kind of VGA adapter that'd I need, just wasn't sure exactly how involved it'd be and maybe if there was a tutorial online?
Thanks for the thoughts..

Uhh I got my wife a planar iMac.

Well the problem is that no one has gone that way. There are a lot of iMac slot logic boards around since it's always the monitor section that fails. So all of the mods I find involve putting the logic board in something else (a toaster?) and running it via atx supply. I have yet to see the pinouts of the video interconnect between the logic board and the PAV section.

I still like the idea of modding the case. You could even put neon in the case!.
This guy put a mini in a 512:
