iPhone on the AT&T GoPhone Plan

I'm planning on buying an iPhone and using it on the AT&T prepaid GoPhone plan, seeing as I don't make too many calls. What implications does this have on the other features of the iPhone? Will I have trouble activating it? Can I still opt for a add-on data plan or will I be charged by amount of downloads (by MB)? If I'm charged by the MB, how much? And will Wi-fi still work free of charge? Are there any other effects, or will the iPhones features work normally?

Mac OS X (10.5.1), iPod Video 5.5 G 30 GB

The iPhone works with the to-go plan, it's just tricky getting them to allow you to do it. Don't get pre-approved at the store/give them your SSN. Then when you go to activate I think you get a msg to call ATT, and then they can give you a to-go plan. I can't remember how I did it exactly...but that's pretty close.

Holy misinformation batman...

iPhone DOES work with gophone. You have to go through the process the same way as if you were signing up for regular service. It checks your credit as part of the setup, and if it comes back that you would require a security deposit, THEN it offers you 3 options, one of which is a prepaid plan. Trick is, you only get this option if you'd have to make a deposit. If you've got amazing credit, this option may not be available.

What I mean is, will I be able to buy a disposable AT&T GoPhone/Pay As You Go cellphone, and swap that SIM into my iPhone, will it work?

I heard that you need to Jailbreak it to do this. What exactly does
Jailbreak-ing it do?

And in case this doesn't work,

1. I heard you can cancel an AT&T contract within 3 days of Activation and pay no fees and also get your activation fee back, based on AT&T policy. Will the iPhone still work after this, just without Phone capabilities?

2. And what is the cheapest possible iPhone plan? Does it work on the $10 family plan on AT&T? What about another AT&T SIM not on a GoPhone plan?
