iPhone stuck in "headphones" mode

Earlier I accidentally grabbed my iPod headphones instead of my iPhone headphones and I think I may have jammed them in there too far. Because now I can't hear any of the keyboard clicks or sounds and when I receive a text message there's no sound either. And when I receive a call it won't allow me to hear the person on the other line unless I put my headphones in or use the speaker function. And when I turn the ringer volume up/down it says "headphones" in parentheses as if it's been set to "headphones" mode or something! Is it possible that I jammed them in so far that my iPhone thinks my headphones are still plugged in? Did I just totally ruin my iPhone? What do I do? Anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks!

Hi bigdalla, I m gonna worship you for this, same happened to me, spilled water bottle ended with a wet phone, the "stuck in headphone mode" was the only damage luckily. Tried everything possibly can be found on internet, nothing worked, your thread was the last straw for me, and I used all the power of my lungs, and suddenly I can hear the music started to play out, I am over the moon now. just want to say thank you, many many thanks. You saved my day!

Hey guys, my iPhone randomly went on to headphone mode and I had to put everyone on loudspeaker when they called me and phone only vibrated, I tried putting my head phones in and out rapidly but never worked so I got my mini brush from my electric razor that you clean it with and after 5 seconds of cleaning the jack out it went back to normal.... **** you debris

ookay so I've been doing that for like 2 minutes straight. Like inhaling until I couldn't breath anymore But like it won't work. I'll put my headphones in & the headphon icon thing won't pop up & my music will play out loud . my brother tried to put my phone in his mouth so he probably got some slob in it but I need help its killing me

variation on the sucking trick: use a coffee straw/stirrer. I tried for a good 20 times to do this by mouth (ha, ha) and it didn't work. The tiny straw is a perfect fit for the port and worked. Note: my phone was inadvertantly stuck into a cup holder filled with Coke. I ended up carefully dunking it in a little water (since I know that hasn't killed it in the past) then using the straw. Going off the assumption the Coke being sticky as it dries it would need a bit of help.

In case anyone is sucking on their iPhone to no avail, none of that worked for me when my daughter brought me her iPhone with the same problem. I tried plugging and unplugging, sucking and blowing on the port, but nothing changed. At a loss, I tried what should normally be the first step in troubleshooting, I rebooted the phone, and it returned to normal audio function! So before you turn blue (or beet red) in the face trying to clear a physical obstruction in the headphone port, try rebooting the sucker!
