Ipod Nano 3rd Generation - TV Out

I have an Ipod Nano (3rd Gen) supporting TV Out. I have purchased the appropriate 30pin composite AV cable (from the apple store). My settings on the Ipod are correct (TV out enabled). When I attached my cable from my Ipod to my tv inputs (have tried on several different TVs) I continue to have displayed on the Ipod the "TV out enabled. Please connect audio video accessory". The Ipod just doesn't seem to recognized the AV cable.

My Ipod also appears to have the most current software. Purchased in December of 2007.

I purchased the Composite AV cable from the Apple Store, not cheap, and it isn't doing what it's supposed to do. Any help would be appreciated.

n/a, Windows Vista

I am in the same boat. A friend of mine and I tried to set his third generation 4GB iPod Nano up and all we keep getting is :

TV OUT ENABLED
Please connect video accessory

We have gone over the settings and made sure that they were correct and it still does not work. Tried this through the Griffin Media Dock he has, as well as just with the apple AV cables.

For some reason, a friend's iPod worked. Another 80GB Video iPod also did NOT work, so I have a feeling it is related to the Nano.

Both his iTunes and iPod software are updated.

Please advise.

My wife has the 4G 3rd Gen Nano. Couldn't get it to output video (same message as above) using a bunch of different docking stations. Geek Squad guy eventually found advice from Apple that said that Nano 3rd Gen had slightly different video connections and won't work with current docks. I tried the Apple composite video cable and that works like a champ for us. Doesn't look like I did anything different than you.

OK I went to my local Apple premium shop
tried the cable on a Classic, a Touch and another Nano.............and nothing worked. They advised me to replace cable.

sent the cable back and got a replacement (within 24Hrs)and.......as soon as you plug in the cable the TV-OUT setting toggles to ON.

It works first time.!!!!!!

So Apple cables are not what they should be.

But I'm fixed and I suggest to anybody else SEND THE CABLES BACK,
